          SENSORS

The sensor modules are designed to interface with other EMB modules via components mounted to the shaft. Examples of components are gears, pulleys, sprockets, shaft couplers, and shaft collar hubs.

EMB-SM1

The EMB-SM1 is an optical rotary incremental encoder module. It is used to measure relative angles. This module can be used as an input device (reference signal) or feedback device. It uses standard industrial encoder signals (Ground, 5V, A, B, Index), making it easy to interface with microcontrollers such as Arduino and STM32 boards, and industrial DAQs such as hardware from National Instruments. The EMB-SM1 is plug-and-play with our DAQs.

The standard cycles per revolution (CPR) is 2048, yielding 8192 counts per revolution in 4X reading. We can supply other CPR specs if your application requires, ranging from 32 CPR to 5000 CPR.

Key features:

  • Rated Voltage: 5V

  • Incremental Encoder

  • Standard CPR: 2048 (other options available)

  • Shaft diameter: 6.00 mm

  • Connector: M12-5 Pin

  • Anodized aluminum body

  • Encoder made in the USA

EMB-SM2

The EMB-SM2 is a precision rotary potentiometer module. It is used to measure absolute angles. This module can be used as an input device (reference signal) or feedback device. It uses standard industrial analog signals (-V, +V, analog output), making it easy to interface with microcontrollers such as Arduino and STM32 boards via ADC input, and industrial DAQs such as hardware from National Instruments. The EMB-SM2 is plug-and-play with our DAQs.

The standard resistance is 10kΩ, but the following options are also available 0.5kΩ,1kΩ, 2kΩ, and 5kΩ.

Key features:

  • Standard Resistance: 10kΩ (other options available)

  • Precision potentiometer with ball bearings

  • Mechanical travel: continuous rotation (no hard stops)

  • Electrical travel: 340⁰

  • Shaft diameter: 6.00 mm

  • Connector: M12-5 Pin

  • Anodized aluminum body

  • Potentiometer made in Japan
